Statistics: Russia’s poor population falls by 0.53 pp in 2018
MOSCOW, Mar 21 (PRIME) -- The number of people whose income is below Russia’s subsistence level fell by 0.3 percentage points to 18.9 million people, or 12.9% of the population, in in 2018, the Federal State Statistics Service said on Thursday citing preliminary data.
In October–December 2018, the number of poor people fell to 14.7 million from 19 million in July–September.
The monthly subsistence level for October–December decreased by 2.2% on the quarter for employable citizens to 11,069 rubles, for pensioners it fell by 1.8% to 8,464 rubles, and for children the figure went down 3.4% to 9,950 rubles.
The price of the minimal food basket stood at 4,784 rubles, the price of non-food goods amounted to 2,371 rubles and the price of services to 2,365 rubles, the service said.
